The Design of Grace
How the Seminar Works
Our seminars combine age-appropriate health education, meaningful conversation, and time for questions giving young people and their parents the knowledge and confidence to navigate adolescence together.
1. Learn
Understanding the Changes
We explore the physical, emotional, and relational changes of adolescence in a clear, age-appropriate way. Young people learn what to expect, why their bodies are changing, and how to care for themselves with confidence, respect, and responsibility.
Topics include physical development, anatomy and reproductive health, hormonal changes, body changes, voice changes, menstruation, ovulation, and other common experiences of puberty. All participants receive a foundational understanding of both male and female development, helping them better understand their own bodies as well as the changes experienced by others.
2. Connect
Time to Pause & Talk
A short break gives everyone a chance to recharge, connect with other families, and reflect on what they’ve learned. During the break, the girls have time to recharge while mothers and guardians gather with Dr. Martinez for a brief, informal conversation. This dedicated time gives parents an opportunity to ask questions, gain practical guidance, and feel better prepared to support their sons through the changes of adolescence.
3. Hands on Period Preparation
Girls will have an opportunity to become familiar with menstrual products through a practical, hands-on demonstration. They’ll learn how different supplies are used and create their own personalized period pack to take home giving them practical tools and greater confidence as they prepare for this important stage of growing up.
4. Ask
Honest Questions. Trusted Answers.
Young people have the opportunity to submit questions anonymously. Questions are addressed openly and thoughtfully, providing accurate information while creating a comfortable space for topics that can sometimes feel difficult to discuss.
5. Anchor
Growing with Purpose
We bring the day together by connecting what young people are learning about their bodies and development with faith, dignity, character, and purpose grounded in an understanding of the human person.
The goal? Not simply to teach young people about growing up, but to give families the knowledge, language, and confidence to keep the conversation going long after the seminar ends.
6. Event Timeline & Structure
Our standard puberty seminars run for approximately 3 hours. This duration is intentionally paced to allow for an experience that blends thorough health education with comfortable, unhurried parent-child discussion.
*** Open Communication & Support: We believe in absolute transparency and are happy to discuss any aspect of our science-and-faith curriculum, medical visual aids, or age-appropriateness with you or your parish leadership prior to booking.
